Family Advocacy

Empowers families by building on their strengths to navigate life’s challenges and create safe, stable, and nurturing home environments.

Goal

At Children’s Aid Society, we believe that every family deserves the opportunity to thrive. Our Family Advocacy Program serves families across York, Adams, and Franklin Counties, providing compassionate support to help them achieve lasting stability and strength. We are here to walk alongside families facing life’s challenges—connecting them with vital resources and offering emotional support every step of the way.

The Family Advocacy Program is designed to empower families by helping them build on their strengths to navigate difficult circumstances. Through home visits, community referrals, and supportive case management, our goal is to provide each family with the tools they need to maintain a safe, stable, and nurturing home environment.

Whether you are facing financial hardship, mental health challenges, or other obstacles, our trained Family Advocates are here to listen, support, and connect you with the services that can help your family move forward.

How It Works

Intake

Our intake process begins with a warm, respectful conversation to explain how we can help. We’ll discuss the services we offer and begin building a foundation of trust and collaboration. This appointment duration is approximately 90 minutes.

Assessment

During the first visit, your Family Advocate will gather information about your family’s history, environment, and strengths. We focus on understanding your story—not just your struggles—so we can support you effectively.

Goal Setting

Together, we’ll identify your goals—whether that’s finding stable housing, improving parenting skills, or accessing health services—and create a plan of action to achieve them. Your Family Advocate will track your progress and reassess goals every six months to ensure you’re moving forward.
